Committees

 

Members of the MN-ND-SD Division are supported by several committees and have the opportunity to increase their leadership skills through participation as a committee member or leader. To find out more or to contact a team lead, click here for information: 2010-2011 Committees.

 


Audit Committee:
Conducts annual audit of the financial records of the outgoing Division treasurer; and provides a report of the audit results to the Executive Committee and members.

 


Bylaws and Standing Rules Committee:

  1. Maintains conformity in Division Bylaws and Standing Rules with the International Bylaws and Standing Rules.
  2. Notifies Chapters and Division Members-at-Large of the February 1 deadline for submitting proposed amendments to these Bylaws and Standing Rules and Procedures, and the necessity of submitting them to each member of the Division Bylaws and Standing Rules Committee.
  3. Proposes amendments.
  4. Edits/correlates all proposed amendments to the Bylaws and Standing Rules of this Division and submit them together with the Committee’s recommendations and the reasons for the recommendations to the Division Officers, the Chapters, and the Division Members-at-Large at least sixty (60) days prior to the Annual Meeting.
  5. Submits Division Bylaws and Standing Rules and/or amendments to the International Bylaws and Standing Rules Committee for approval as amended or at least every four (4) years.
  6. Reviews and approves Chapter Bylaws and Standing Rules and Procedures as amended or at least every four (4) years.
  7. Assists the Board of Directors in preparing and submitting amendments to the International Bylaws and Standing Rules and resolution to the International Bylaws and Standing Rules Committee on behalf of the Division.
  8. Presents Bylaws and Standing Rules and Procedures and/or amendments as required by these Bylaws at the Annual Meeting.

Certification Committee:
Helps keep the division informed of special study groups and what chapters are doing. Sends congratulations to those newly certified or recertified. May participate in the recognition of newly certified and recertified held at the Division Annual Meeting.

 

Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) and Certified Administrative Professional (CAP):

Part 4 of the CAP exam is administered on Friday afternoon. Parts 1-3 of the CPS and CAP exams are administered on Saturday. Further information is located in the Professional Development section on the IAAP website.


Chapter Development Committee:
Works with getting new chapters started, generally in coordination with someone local. Visits the site often, keeps them up to date, and checks in on what help they need from Division. Also works with chapters that need help in recruiting and maintaining members by providing information, assisting with recruitment events, and attending meetings as needed.

 


Fundraising Committee:
Created to raise money each year for a Division Incentive Award that grants $250 to one member that has never attended an Annual Meeting and $250 for a member who has attended previously, based on members' applications and criteria. This committee primarily has a fundraiser at the Division Annual Meeting and the Fall Conference.

 


Membership
Committee:
Transmits names of prospective members to the appropriate chapter(s) for further recruitment action; works directly with chapter membership chairs to assist in attracting and retaining members; and corresponds directly with prospective division members-at-large, as well as sending welcome email to new division members as provided by weekly list from IAAP Membership Department.

 


Nominating Committee:
Composed of immediate past division president as chair and two members elected at the Division Annual Meeting (DAM). Notifies all chapter presidents and division members at large of the deadline for submission of candidates for division office; receives and reviews completed applications; and notifies the division officers, chapter presidents, and division members at large at least 45 days before the DAM of the names and qualifications of all candidates for each office.

 


Professional Development Fund Committee:
Supports the purpose of the Professional Development Fund as noted in Section F in the Standing Rules. These funds are for explicit use of engaging professional speakers/trainers at Division functions to enhance the education and professional development of the Division membership, and the Committee solicits funds through appropriate methods.

 


Public Relations & Marketing Committee:
Works with the Division and chapters to help publicize events taking place and with the tools needed, as well as sends out the communication after elections. Also coordinates and/or staff exhibits at appropriate events; and works in conjunction with Student Outreach Committee to attract and retain student members.

 


Research & Education Committee:
Works to support the International Committee for the R&E Foundation, which was created both to advance knowledge of the administrative profession and to provide educational services to admins. The foundation is committed to creating educational opportunities and providing research support to further the career development of administrative professionals.

 


Retirement Trust Foundation Committee:
Works with the chapter to promote awareness of the RTF and helps to coordinate a fundraiser at division special events to raise money.  The RTF was formed for the primary purpose of acquiring, maintaining and operating homes for needy and elderly administrative professionals.

 


Student Outreach Committee:
Works on getting new student chapters started in coordination with a local school in the community; and coordinates the Annual Conference for Future and Current Administrative Professionals (Student Conference) to provide an education and networking opportunity for students in administrative programs throughout the Division.
